Born into the royal family of The Esama of Benin kingdom, Chief Sir (Dr) Gabriel O. Igbinedion, Hon. Omosede Gabriella Igbinedion stands as a beacon of leadership and service in Nigerian politics. Her journey, marked by educational excellence, legal accomplishments, and an impactful political career, exemplifies a commitment to public service and community development.

Omosede’s educational foundation was laid at the Igbinedion Education Center, where she completed her Senior School Certificate Examination in 1998. Her pursuit of academic excellence led her to the United Kingdom, where she acquired A-Levels at Cambridge College and earned a Bachelor of Law Degree (LL.B) from the University of Kent in 2003. Furthering her studies, she obtained a Masters in Diplomatic Studies from the University of Westminster in 2005.

Returning to Nigeria, Omosede attended the Nigerian Law School and was called to the Bar in 2007. Armed with legal expertise, she entered the realm of public service with a commitment to making a difference.

In 2015, Hon. Omosede Gabriella Igbinedion made history by becoming the youngest female member elected into the 8th Assembly of the Nigerian Federal House of Representatives. Representing the Ovia Federal constituency, encompassing Ovia North-East and Ovia South-West Local Government Areas of Edo State, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), she quickly became a prominent figure in Nigerian politics.

Her legislative interests revolve around crucial issues affecting society, including Women and Children, Poverty Alleviation, Education, and Niger Delta Matters. Her dedication to creating effective and independent democratic legislation is evident in her role as the Deputy Chairman House Services and membership in committees such as Local Content, Aviation, Downstream Petroleum, FCT, Judiciary, Rural Development, and Women in Parliament.

The Petroleum Industry Governance Bill, 2016, the Freedom of Information Act (Amendment) Bill, 2018, and the National Identity Management Commission Act (Amendment Bill), 2018, showcase her commitment to legislative reforms.

Beyond the legislative realm, Hon. Omosede has left an indelible mark on her constituency through various development projects. Electrification projects, health centers, and empowerment programs for women and farmers underscore her dedication to uplifting the lives of her constituents.
