Poetry Chain

Poetry Chain has been a mainstream poetry Journal of Indian Poetry in English for over 12 years. The mission of Poetry Chain is to bring Indian Poets and poetry in English to International focus and to stand by its missionary motto - Poetry Connects.

It was founded by Gopikrishnan Kottoor with advisory patrons as late Dr. Ayyappa Paniker (Padma Shri and Saraswathi Award winner), Dr. Sitakant Mahapatra (Jnanpith Award winner) K. Jaya Kumar (poet, civil service), Sanjeev Kumar (press), Dr. K. A. Menon, (litterateur and economist), Detlef Seydel (mathematician and poetry lover) and H. K. Kaul (Poetry Society, India).

Poetry Chain gave away annual prizes such as the Agha Shahid Ali Prize for young poets, The Father Wake Us in Passing Poetry Prize (instituted as suggested by Dr. Ayyappa Paniker), and annual poetry prizes instituted in association with Poetry Society, India.

Gopikrishnan Kottoor

Gopikrishnan Kottoor is a poet who has won many honours for poetry. His oeuvre includes novels, transcreations, and plays. He founded the poetry journal, Poetry Chain. His fourteenth book of poems ‘The Painter of Evenings’ was brought out by Poetrywala recently.
