Channel 4's 'shocking' Marilyn Manson documentary release date and episode guide

A new Channel 4 documentary exploring the life of controversial rock star Marilyn Manson has finally landed a release date.

The three-part series, titled Marilyn Manson: Unmasked unravels "the shocking story of one of rock music's most polarising figures", including recent abuse allegations brought against the singer, which he denies.

The synopsis reads: "From his meteoric rise as the self-proclaimed 'Antichrist Superstar' to the chilling abuse allegations that have engulfed his career, this series dives deep into Manson’s world to separate fact from fiction."

The first hour-long episode called The Birth of Marilyn Manson will air on Channel 4 on January 14 at 10pm and explore the musician's early career and rise to stardom. It is set to feature appearances from "early fans, collaborators and musicians".

"From his shocking stage antics to his offensive backstage behaviour, Manson became a lightning rod for moral panic. Accused by many of being a malign influence on American youth, he faced backlash for allegedly inspiring violence, including the Columbine High School massacre," the synopsis continues.

"Manson used the controversy to position himself as a misunderstood artist and an advocate for listening to disillusioned youth."

The next episode, titled Allegations of Abuse will be broadcast the following night, January 15, at the same time. This instalment features an interview with actress and Manson's former fiancée Evan Rachel Wood who accused the singer of "horrific" abuse back in 2021, prompting his record label to drop him and other women to come forward with their own sexual misconduct claims.

The third and final episode, The Reckoning, will show on January 16 at 10pm. It will detail what has happened in the wake of the abuse allegations against Manson, including what it means for the wider entertainment industry.

Manson, real name Brian Warner, announced his return to touring in early 2024, his first since allegations of abuse - which he has described as "horrible distortions of reality" - were brought. The documentary will air just weeks before the European leg of his tour which kicks off in Zurich on February 10.

Marilyn Manson: Unmasked begins at 10pm on Tuesday, January 14 on Channel 4
