Early Life: Lei Qingyao is born on 3 January, in Sichuan province, China. Her parents are working as a small craftsmen who makes minimum wages for making Kites,Dragon flyers. At the age of 4, when she is playing with her friends, a kite is stuck to a electric pole. Lei climbed up the electric pole to fetch the kite and came in contact with a high voltage electric current and collapsed on the floor. Due to this mishap, her both arms were amputated and life became a tragic for her and family. Despite the hardest times they were going through, her father and mother encouraged and stood by her while she tried to cope up with her life. Her parents tried to give give a normal life for her and gave hope to her life by supporting to learn everyday tasks by using her feet. After practising several years, she learnt eating by her own,brushing her teeth,stitching and cooking the food with her feet. By the time she entered school,she already learnt how to write using her feet Despite many attempts of failure. As the time went by, Lei's will power and determination to work hard grew stronger. She started to take part in Long jump,High jump Sprt events organised at her school

In , Feng Zhenzhi was moved by Lei Qingyao's experience and he and her wife decided to make a movie about Lei Qingyao in order to educate children to strive to become stronger. Although she was afraid of the water, she immediately began to learn swimming for the movie, Invisible wings. This movie is nominated to several film festival and bagged many awards. The General Administration of Sports recommended the movie to take part in the China Movie Awards. More than 30 judges were moved to tears.

At Paralympic sports, Lei Qingyao is invited to give a performance on stage for her song from the movie "Invisible Wings". The Paralympic games Began at the China Millennium Monument in Beijing, China, Thursday, Sept. 6, September 23th, the 17th Annual Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Movie Festival Award Ceremony held in Dalian. Lei Qingyao was honored with the Best Newcomer award.

After the movie,she went to pursue her studies, She is a psychology sophomore at Leshan Normal University in Sichuan , she was appointed as the Image Ambassador of Beijing Teenager Public Interest Film and received the honor of Top 10 Best Youth of Sichuan Province. Lei's other accomplishments include starting the Qingyao Sunshine Workshop, a student-counseling center at her university last April. "My aim is to reward society and pass on a spirit of perseverance," she said.

Also a singer, Lei came out with her first album, White Bird, which earned her best new vocalist from the Asian- Pacific Music Rankings last year.[1]
